Author Hibernation: When Things Slow Down

This and last months were tough for me, both for the body and mind. A brutal course of physical therapy had worn me out to the brinks of extinction (I survived! YAY! I have another one in roughly three months! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) and my mind refused to produce ideas, kicked into the deepest pits of depression by the pain and inability to work. This whole mess resulted in pause in my writing, of course. So instead of planned 20k I barely squeezed out some 5+ and still dragging my feet through that story, which is supposed to be sexy and fun! (My body feels like a war zone, so I have to re-learn what those two words mean… Sexy and fun.)

I think I can work something out.
I think I can work something out.

But, as usual, a physical devastation was not enough and some minor shit always finds a way to ruin the day.

A couple of days ago I found out there were some things in my big book that needed fixing to avoid confusion in some readers. This always happens after someone already bought your stuff (Kindle update YAY!) and you’ve sent out a couple of copies for reviewing (ARGH!). Whatever. Those things in episode 75 — I know all about them. And in case you’d ask, per my lousy calculation, the speed of those critters in water is roughly 9 km/h. (Would probably be faster in real life, if existed.) Not that badass-fast, but faster than any of you for sure! To compare, pro swimmers’ sprinting max up to ~5.95 km/h on average on short distances. Dolphins can swim at up to speeds of about 10 to 20 m/s (36 km/h to 72 km/h).

At this point I no longer care about HARD SCIENCE FICTION.

But if the thought of doing work (and thinking) while reading a book makes you cringe in pain, keep in mind:

pain-is-just-weakness-leaving-the-body

On the bright side, I’m reading a good indie story about AIs, which I hope to review sometime at the end of this week to share the good stuff with you.

Also, since I’ve returned to the idea of writing reviews, I’ll have to figure out my ranking. Hmmm…

(This whole reading thing won’t be fast, for it takes me roughly one week to read a 300+ page book. Shut up! I do not own an e-reader, I do not own a smartphone, I read on kindle for PC, and I cannot sit for too long. Sometimes I need to lay on the floor or bed in strange poses until my back or limbs stop hurting.)

  1. I read a lot slower than you, because I only have about 1-2 hrs of reading time MAX a day. Mostly less.

Don’t feel bad about those 5K instead of 20. That’s me on a roll! 😀

    1. I don’t feel bad about small word count. I feel bad about falling out of touch with the story atmosphere and dynamics. One does not write erotic romance, even BDSM-themed, in debilitating condition.

      LOL!
